Position Overview
CAE is seeking a highly skilled and experienced C-27J Spartan Pilot Simulator Instructor to join its dedicated team at RAAF Base Amberley, QLD. This pivotal role provides comprehensive training, administrative, and subject matter expertise support for the Spartan Pilot Initial Qualification (PIQ) Course, secondary upgrade courses, and ongoing training initiatives. The successful candidate will report directly to the C-27J Lead Instructor and work in close collaboration with the C-27J Key Account Manager and other resident instructional staff, contributing significantly to Australian Defence and security capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The C-27J Spartan Pilot Simulator Instructor will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough mission briefs and debriefs to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Delivering expert simulator instruction to C-27J pilot students, ensuring adherence to rigorous training standards.
- Engaging proactively with simulator maintenance technicians to promptly report and facilitate the resolution of identified simulator issues.
- Contributing to the continuous development and improvement of training materials, ensuring their alignment with current syllabus requirements and operational best practices.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this role must possess:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Military Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) or Operational Flying Instructor (OFI) within a demanding aircrew training environment.
- A minimum of 1000 command hours accumulated on multi-engine, multi-crew, tactical transport aircraft such as the C-27J, C-130J, or similar platforms.
- The ability to obtain, or already hold, a Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment, or possess recognised equivalent experience.
Desirable Attributes
Experience as a flight simulator instructor is highly regarded and will be a significant advantage for this position.

Security Clearance Requirements
As a key partner to the Australian Department of Defence, this position necessitates eligibility for a SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold a valid SECRET (NV1) clearance.
