Aviation Instructor - Flight Simulation and Training

About the Role

The Aviation Instructor is entrusted with the critical responsibility of maintaining personal licenses, ratings, and instructor qualifications (IP currency), including medical fitness where applicable, to effectively perform assigned duties. A key aspect of this role involves ensuring that all necessary Authority approvals are valid prior to conducting any training that requires exercising the privileges of such approvals.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Operational Standards

  • Adheres strictly to ECFT/CAE policies and procedures at the operational level during all training functions, activities, and lesson plan executions.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures pertaining to Authority-approved programs as they apply to training functions, activities, or lesson plans.

Instructional Delivery and Pilot Development

  • Conducts all simulator briefings and training sessions in a thorough, positive, and professional manner to maximize training benefits for trainee pilots.
  • Accurately documents any deviations from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), procedures, or maneuvers, and thoroughly discusses these with the trainee pilot during simulator debriefings.
  • Reviews the client's Training and Checking Authorization form prior to commencing any training.
  • Provides simulator instruction on one or more aircraft types, with training sessions typically lasting four or more hours in the simulator, exclusive of briefing and debriefing time.
  • Conducts pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Delivers classroom instruction utilizing various methods such as Simfinity, Computer-Based Training (CBT), Interactive Platform Training (IPT), or stand-up lectures, which may involve 8 to 10 hours of standing and/or sitting in the classroom environment.
  • If assigned, supports the development and certification of training curriculum and devices, including simulators, Flight Training Devices (FTDs), and Flight Management System (FMS) training aids.
  • If assigned to ground school duties, obtains FAA/EASA ground school and simulator instructor designation within approximately 12 months.
  • Acquires the necessary qualifications to serve as an examiner and performs examiner duties under the relevant authority for the assigned aircraft fleet.
  • Performs seat support duties as required.
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks such as maintaining training records, recommending remedial training when necessary, and tracking personal instructional qualifications.
  • Prepares and inspects classroom facilities and equipment prior to the commencement of each training day.
  • Recommends candidates for licensing checks based on their training performance and demonstrated readiness.
  • If assigned, acts as a subject matter expert in the creation and review of curriculum and courseware.
  • Delivers Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) training for stand-alone courses and multi-pilot operations on SPHPCA types, in accordance with instructor certification (if applicable).
