Position Overview

The Civil Regional Training Leader for EMEAA is a senior leadership position accountable for executing and reinforcing globally defined training strategies, standards, and operating models across Europe and the Middle East. Reporting to a centrally governed global leadership structure, this role serves as both a regional execution leader and a steward of global training standards. The incumbent ensures training delivery excellence aligns with enterprise strategy, global quality benchmarks, regulatory requirements, and customer airline expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional Strategy Execution: Implement global training strategies at the regional level, ensuring adaptation to local market needs and regulatory frameworks.
  • Organizational Efficiency: Drive synergy with operations to optimize training delivery costs through regulatory strategy, customer support, and improved resource utilization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead the planning and enhancement of the training experience by forecasting business needs and deploying next-generation training technologies and pedagogical frameworks.
  • Customer Collaboration: Support sales and operational engagements to ensure training solutions are accurately positioned and aligned with customer expectations, incorporating feedback into program design to improve retention and outcomes.
  • Global Instructor Mentorship and Assurance: Direct the local adoption and governance of global training standards, providing oversight for how procedures are planned, scheduled, and monitored across the region.
  • Standards Integration: Embed global training delivery practices, including effective facilitation, facilitative debriefing, root cause analysis, resilience development, and ICAO’s 9 competencies framework.
  • Operational Integration: Partner with regional operations leadership to ensure training delivery is fully integrated with operational efficiency and center performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Licensing: Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Instructor certifications such as Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Ground Instructor, or equivalent are required.
  • Type Ratings: Relevant aircraft type ratings, specifically within business or commercial aviation.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in aviation training, including flight operations, simulator-based instruction, and curriculum development.
  • Leadership Experience: 5 to 10 years in senior leadership roles, preferably with global or multi-site responsibility and a proven track record of managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Industry Background: Experience working within training organizations, airlines, OEMs, or aviation regulatory bodies.

Core Competencies

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of global aviation regulatory frameworks, including FAA, EASA, and ICAO standards.
  • Educational Methodology: Expertise in adult learning principles, competency-based training (CBT), and evidence-based training (EBT) models.
  • Technology Integration: Proficiency with training technology platforms, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), Flight Simulation systems, and immersive technologies (VR/AR).
  • Business and Financial Acumen: Ability to align training strategy with commercial objectives, manage training budgets, and forecast ROI on investments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Advanced communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, regulators, OEMs, and key customers.
  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success in optimizing large-scale pilot training programs and improving training delivery efficiency.
