JTAC Instructor/Operator - Aviation Training Specialist

A prominent organization seeks a dedicated and experienced JTAC Instructor/Operator to join its esteemed training division. This full-time, regular employee position demands a minimum of a Secret security clearance. The role involves up to 25% local travel.
The Opportunity
As a JTAC Instructor/Operator, the incumbent will operate Fire Support/Terminal Attack Control simulators and deliver crucial Close Air Support (CAS) familiarization training. Key responsibilities include the comprehensive planning, development, scheduling, and synchronization of the JTAC trainer/simulator. The role also entails crafting realistic and challenging simulator training scenarios aligned with supported command operational objectives. Furthermore, the JTAC Instructor/Operator will contribute to the development of training and mission rehearsal tasks, fostering integration of Live, Virtual, Constructive, Gaming (LVCG) and Synthetic Training Environment (STE) systems, as well as simulating JTAC and Forward Observer devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Terminal Attack Control (TAC) academic instruction in accordance with USSOCOM 350-5 and the JTAC Memoranda of Agreement (MOA).
- Deliver comprehensive academic and practical instruction across all facets of Fire Support, including TAC, Naval Gunfire, Call for Fire, AC-130 operations, and Attack Aviation.
- Operate Fire Support/Terminal Attack Control simulators, providing essential instruction for USSOCOM JTACs, trainees, and for Close Air Support (CAS) familiarization.
- Plan, develop, schedule, and synchronize all aspects of the JTAC Trainer, and design challenging simulator training scenarios in alignment with unit Designed Operational Capabilities Statements.
- Attend simulator and operational conferences to maintain proficiency with current software and hardware applications.
- Research and integrate new operational tactics, techniques, and procedures into unit training programs.
- Maintain required qualifications and currency as stipulated by the JTAC MOA.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and standard office automation tools.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the principles, concepts, practices, and standards relevant to JTAC training simulators.
- Work effectively at customer facilities, adapting to both conventional and austere operating environments.
- Undertake travel as required to support operating command needs.
- Conduct instruction, training, and education in field environments, enduring seasonal and adverse weather conditions.
- Perform instruction, training, and education in field environments requiring transportation via watercraft, aircraft, and/or ground vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- A current Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI.
- Certification as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller Instructor or Evaluator (JTAC-I/E) obtained during service in the United States Armed Forces.
- Demonstrated operational JTAC experience with Special Operations Forces (SOF).
- Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and employing lethal and nonlethal capabilities.
- Proficiency with JTAC simulators, simulation software, and training aids.
- A strong command of military air-ground communications systems.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Training and experience with the Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE).
- Training and experience with the Joint Terminal Control Training Rehearsal System (JTC TRS).
- Training and experience with the HAVIK Joint Fires Trainer.
- Training and experience with Joint Fires Battlespace Simulations.

Compensation and Benefits
The proposed salary range for this position is $61,600 - $129,300. This range is the national average, influenced by factors such as geographic location, contract labor categories, prior experience, skills, education, and certifications.
