Second in Command Pilot

As a Second in Command Pilot, the individual will support the Captain in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft. This role requires a dedication to the highest standards of aviation safety, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a flight crew. The Second in Command assists with navigation, flight planning, communications, and the management of in-flight systems.
Responsibilities:
- Operate aircraft in full compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist the Captain with pre-flight planning, including route and weather analysis, fuel calculations, and crew briefings.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC) to receive clearances, weather updates, and operational instructions.
- Monitor flight instruments, conduct system checks, and provide regular reports on aircraft performance.
- Support the Captain in adhering to all aviation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Assist with post-flight procedures, including aircraft inspections, maintenance reports, and updating flight logs.
- Take control of the aircraft during emergencies or as directed by the Captain.
Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and safety procedures.
- Strong customer service skills with a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated capacity to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Flight Operations Manuals, Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Company Check Pilot Manuals, and relevant civil aviation regulations.
- Willingness and ability to support overnight travel, including multi-day international trips.
- Seven to ten years of aviation experience with a Bachelor's degree in Aviation (from a military or certified program).
- A minimum of 3,000 total flight hours, including 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
Work Environment:
- Office: Controlled temperature between 65F and 75F.
- Hanger: Perishable warehouse environment ranging from 28F to 60F.
