The Opportunity: First Officer on the Airbus A320 Fleet

This intensive 19-month training program, conducted in partnership with Skywings Flight Training, prepares successful candidates to join Brussels Airlines as a First Officer. Graduates will be instrumental in operating the state-of-the-art Airbus A320 fleet, flying passengers safely to and from various destinations. This is a unique chance to achieve a dream aviation career with one of Europe's leading airlines.

Candidate Profile and Eligibility Requirements

Brussels Airlines believes in fostering growth and is seeking ambitious team players who demonstrate dedication, perseverance, and the ability to perform under pressure. No prior flying experience or aviation knowledge is required, making this program accessible to both recent high school graduates and individuals seeking a transformative career change.

To be eligible for the Cadet Pilot Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a passport from a member state of the European Union.
• Demonstrate fluency in English (both oral and written command).
• Demonstrate fluency in French and/or Dutch (both oral and written command).
• Be able to obtain an EASA Class 1 medical certificate prior to the commencement of training.
• Be able to present a valid certificate of good conduct.
• Be able to provide proof of completing secondary education.

Selection Process

Following an initial application screening, shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a comprehensive selection process designed to identify future aviation professionals. This rigorous assessment typically includes:

• Basic aptitude testing.
• English proficiency evaluation (written and oral).
• Psychological assessment.
• Mathematics and physics knowledge test.
• Human Resources interview.

The Training Program

Successful candidates will commence their 19-month full-time flight training with Skywings Flight Training, based at Antwerp Airport. This program is not combinable with other activities, such as part-time employment, due to its demanding schedule, which may include weekend and out-of-office-hours training. While the primary training base is Antwerp, a portion of the training may occur at a fair-weather base in Spain, where accommodation and transport are included. Accommodation and transport within Belgium remain at the candidate’s expense.

Upon graduation, trainees will be awarded an EASA MPL License with an Airbus A320 type rating. The MPL license will subsequently transition to an ATPL license upon accumulating 1500 flight hours and fulfilling all experience and competence requirements.

Employment with Brussels Airlines

Upon successful completion of the training program, graduates will receive a contract as a First Officer with Brussels Airlines. The initial months involve a crucial line training period, where newly qualified First Officers are accompanied by an experienced training captain who provides coaching and support in real-life operational environments. This period culminates in a final practical assessment, the “line check.” Passing the line check signifies full release as a First Officer, ready to take to the skies.

Program Cost

This partially sponsored training program has a cost of 99,500 Euros (VAT inclusive). Payments are structured in three installments and cover all training costs, with the exception of:

• Landing fees.
• Antwerp Airport Security Badge.
• Initial Class 1 medical certificate.
