The Opportunity and Scope
Smartwings is actively seeking qualified pilots for an immediate start on a two-year renewable contract, operating until October 31, 2027. This challenging yet rewarding self-employment role offers dynamic flying experience across a global operational network.

Remuneration and Financial Structure
The compensation package is competitive and performance-based, rewarding high flight hours:
- Basic Monthly Salary: €6,800 (based on 40 monthly minimum block hours).
- Hourly Overtime Rate: €180 per hour (for hours exceeding 40 MBH), plus additional bonuses.
- Estimated Potential Salary: Pilots achieving an average of 85 flying hours per month can expect a gross remuneration of approximately €15,400 per month.
- Ground School Payment: A basic payment of €5,000 per month is provided commencing upon the start of Ground School and concluding upon the successful completion of the Operator Conversion Course (OCC) Simulator assessment.
Minimum Requirements for EASA B737NG Captains
Only candidates meeting the following essential criteria will be considered for this Captain position:
- Possession of a current EASA ATPL (Air Transport Pilot Licence).
- Valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Current Command Type Rating endorsed with B737 IR.
- A minimum of 3,500 total flying hours.
- Preferably 1,000 Pilot-In-Command (PIC) hours on the Boeing 737 Next Generation (B737NG).
- Last flight conducted within the previous 12 months.
- Legal rights to live and work within the European Union (EU Passport/Residency required).
Operational Details and Contract Terms
This role utilizes a dynamic, floating base structure to support Smartwings' seasonal operational demands:
Bases and Deployment
- Winter Season (October – May): Operating primarily from bases in India and Cameroon.
- Summer Season (June – September): Operating primarily from bases across Europe.
Roster and Allowances
- Roster Pattern: A guaranteed 20 days ON followed by 10 consecutive days OFF per month.
- Accommodation: Provided by the airline for postings in India and Cameroon.
- European Stay & Travel Allowance: A monthly allowance of €500 is provided while based in Europe.
- Travel Benefits: MyID Travel is available for the pilot and up to four registered family members for the duration of the contract.
- Pilot Transport: The airline covers the cost of transport between the assigned home base and the main base during the 20-day working period.
- Induction Costs: All costs incurred for worker induction, such as security clearances, are borne by the airline.
Selection and Induction Process
The airline anticipates conducting screening and assessment dates in October and November 2025, with Operator Conversion Courses (OCC) scheduled for November and December 2025.

- Online Assessment: Includes online testing and an initial interview.
- On-Site Assessment: A comprehensive evaluation including a Psychological test, SIM assessment (flight tickets and accommodation provided by the airline), Technical test, English language proficiency evaluation, Behavioral interview, and a Final interview.
