Qualified Aircrewman Instructor (QAI) CH-47F – Chinook Integrated Services & Support (CISS)

The Opportunity

We are now seeking a Qualified Aircrewman Instructor (QAI) to join the Aircrew Training Capability in Boeing Defence Australia (BDA). With an intended start date in January 2024, there may be an opportunity for the ideal candidate to be considered for an earlier start. This position will support the Chinook Integrated Services & Support (CISS) contract in Townsville, QLD, operating the CH-47F. The QAI is primarily responsible for the conduct of aircrewman helicopter flying instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct flight instruction (live and synthetic devices)
  • Conduct ground instruction, briefings and lectures
  • Maintain aircrew qualifications and currency requirements in accordance with Army Aviation OIP
  • Provide flying supervision to trainees
  • Conduct the duties of a Course Manager for Aircrewman courses
  • Perform other duties, as required by the SI TTW
  • Participate in external evaluations (including safety related investigations)
  • Assist the BDA CH-47 SI as required for BDA related activities
  • Comply with the WHS-related OIP to ensure a safe workplace
  • Be aware of, and demonstrate a commitment to, the principles of equal opportunity in the workplace

Experience/Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Current CASA Class 1 Medical and ability to maintain the requirements of this medical certificate
  • Must meet the anthropometric requirements for the CH-47F
  • Military Aircrewman qualification or civilian equivalent (CERT IV in Aircrewman)
  • Must have AVI4Y5108A Conduct external load-lift operations and PUADEFAD001A Rig and hook up loads during rotary wing external lift operations or military equivalent
  • Dangerous Goods Aware qualification
  • NVG Aircrew endorsement IAW CAO 82.6 or military equivalent
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with co-workers, maintaining productive working relationships to meet team, business unit and organisational goals
  • Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures
  • Intermediate to advanced level of MS Office skills
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence security clearance
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Military flying instruction experience – Minimum Category C QAI
  • Ab-initio flying experience
  • Chinook flying experience
  • Chinook Aircrewman Tech experience an advantage
  • Instructional experience in synthetic devices
  • Experience in a safety management role
  • Experience working in a contractor environment (directly with customer)

Physical Requirements

Boeing Defence Australia specific site positions will have physical requirements which are applicable. Physical requirements are outlined by the recruitment manager in consultation with the Environment Health & Safety Department. A formal assessment of the physical requirements will need to be completed through the Environment Health & Safety Department for specific roles which would then reflect into the position description.

Applicants must meet the anthropometric requirements for the CH-47F aircraft cabin for the role of Qualified Aircrewman Instructor.
