Aviation Pilot

Bechtel is seeking a qualified Aviation Pilot to provide safe, dependable, and flexible air transportation for executive management. The Aviation Pilot will fly Bechtel aircraft as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) or Second-in-Command (SIC). The successful candidate will assist with pre-flight planning, crewmember compliance, safety condition assessment, and passenger services, ensuring executive travel needs are met securely, efficiently, and punctually. This position is located in Oakland, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Verifies weather conditions and applicable Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and determines aircraft weight and balance, along with appropriate fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements.
  • Makes final decisions regarding the safe operation of the aircraft, consulting with other departments to resolve maintenance irregularities, passenger service issues, and operational planning needs.
  • Conducts comprehensive pre-flight inspections of the aircraft before each departure.
  • Leads pre-flight planning activities and briefs operational pilots, ensuring all assigned aircraft crewmembers possess valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas, when required.
  • Guarantees that all passengers receive a Part 91 compliant briefing before each flight.
  • Maintains absolute authority over the safe operation of the aircraft and other crewmembers during aircraft movement, ensuring compliance with customs, immigration, and sabotage laws.
  • Operates the aircraft in accordance with established operator procedures and aircraft limitations, ensuring the safe transport of key executives, their families, authorized employees, and physical assets.
  • Manages the provision of passenger services during trips, including arranging in-flight catering and verifying itinerary times for scheduled departures with the lead passenger.
  • Completes all post-flight duties, including post-flight briefings, accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping, clearing and restocking the cabin and galley, reporting aircraft defects to maintenance, and notifying BAO of any deviations from the planned itinerary or overnight location. The pilot remains in command of all crewmembers until the end of the assigned duty period or until command is relinquished.
  • Holds full responsibility and final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Directs the activities of all crewmembers in a manner promoting maximum safety, responsibility, and operational effectiveness.
  • May serve as Second-in-Command on designated trip sequences.

Qualifications:

  • Current 1st Class FAA Medical Certificate.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with Instrument and Airplane Multi-Engine Land ratings.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2,500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
  • 1,500 hours of multi-engine time.
  • 1,000 hours of turbine-powered time.
  • 500 hours PIC in multi-engine turbine powered aircraft.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and relevant sections of the Airmen’s Information Manual (AIM).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience interacting with executive management, government officials, and service center representatives.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and travel for extended periods.

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is $163,032 - $248,400, commensurate with function, education, experience, and qualifications.
