# Position Summary:

+ Provides safe, secure, dependable, efficient, and flexible air travel for Bechtel and Fremont executive management, while remaining in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and Bechtel Aircraft Operations (BAO) procedures. Maintains confidentiality at all times.

+ Reports to and receives functional guidance and direction from the Chief Pilot.

When flying as Captain, and therefore designated as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC):

+ Has full responsibility and is the final authority for the safe operation of the airplane.

+ Directs the activities of all crewmembers in a manner that promotes maximum safety, responsibility and operational effectiveness.

Contacts

+ Maintains direct working relationship with the maintenance department.

+ Maintains direct working relationships with Bechtel and Fremont executive management, and other senior management authorized to use the aircraft.

+ Maintains close professional relationships with appropriate vendors and service providers on all matters concerning flight operations.

# Responsibilities:

As Pilot-in-Command is responsible for the following:

+ Checks weather, all applicable Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), determines the aircraft weight and balance, and the appropriate fuel, oil and oxygen requirements.

+ Makes the final decision as to whether or not an aircraft may be safely operated. As required, consults with other departments to resolve maintenance irregularities, passenger service issues, and operational planning.

+ Completes an aircraft pre-flight inspection before each departure.

+ Conducts pre-flight planning and pre-flight briefing of operational pilots; ensures that assigned aircraft crewmembers have valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas, if required.

+ Ensures a Part 91 compliant briefing is conducted for all passengers prior to flight.

+ Assumes absolute authority relative to the safe operation of the aircraft and over other crewmembers during aircraft movement to ensure compliance with customs, immigration and sabotage laws.

+ Operates the aircraft in accordance with operator procedures and aircraft limitations to ensure the safe transport of key executives and their families, authorized employees, and physical assets.

+ Oversees the appropriate provision of passenger services during trips, e.g., the arrangement of in-flight catering while away from home base, as well as verifying itinerary times for the next scheduled departure with the lead passenger.

+ Completes all post-flight duties, including conducting post-flight briefings, completing all post-flight documentation and record keeping in an accurate and timely manner, clearing and restocking the cabin and galley areas, notifying maintenance of any aircraft defects, and notifying BAO of any deviation from the planned itinerary or overnight location. Remains in command of other crewmembers until the end of the assignment duty period or until command is relinquished

May fly as Second-in-Command on designated trip sequences. When so assigned, assists the Pilot-in-Command:

+ in the overall conduct of the flight from initial departure until the arrival at home base;

+ in the safe operation of the aircraft regardless of who is the Pilot Flying (PF);

+ in determining that the aircraft is in airworthy condition;

+ by reporting conditions which could be detrimental to safe operations including mechanical problems, weather, crew proficiency, deviations from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and airport or Air-Traffic Control problems;

+ in the maintenance of accurate flight records and BAO documentation.

+ Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of standard flight operations procedures to ensure that executive travel needs are met in a safe, secure, dependable, efficient, and flexible manner.

+ Assists in the development and implementation of proactive safety management systems to monitor all activities that may have an impact on flight safety.

+ Assists in the development and implementation of security awareness training programs and procedures to enable crewmembers to keep themselves, the aircraft, and any passengers secure against terrorism, sabotage, and threats at the places and facilities they might frequent while traveling.

+ May assist in managing and administering an integrated program that addresses appropriate training, both initial and recurrent, for BAO flight personnel, both in-house and contract, in accordance with FAA and BAO requirements.

+ Maintains flight currency in appropriate BAO aircraft, and keeps track of all other necessary personal qualifications as a crewmember.

Assumes any responsibilities delegated by the Chief Pilot or the Manager of Aircraft Operations.

Licenses and certificates

+ Current 1st Class FAA Medical Certificate

+ Airline Transport Pilot, with Instrument and Airplane Multi-Engine Land ratings

+ Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred

Flight Experience minimums

+ 2,500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time1

+ 1,500 hours of multi-engine time

+ 1,000 hours of turbine-powered time

+ 500 hours PIC in multi-engine turbine powered aircraft

+ Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of FARs and appropriate portions of the AIM (Airmen’s Information Manual).

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Experience in dealing with executive management, government officials, and service center representatives.

+ Must be willing to work irregular hours and be able to travel for extended periods of time.
