Job Overview

The Instructor provides essential educational support to patients, parents, and families within the communities served by BSWH. This role focuses on the development and delivery of comprehensive educational programs, including both virtual and classroom-based instruction.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator on program planning, implementation, and evaluation to address community and patient needs.
  • Assess data and information to identify educational trends and requirements, creating effective programs for parents, community members, and nursing staff.
  • Develop and deliver educational initiatives, such as Grand Rounds and in-service training, to foster professional growth and clinical competence.
  • Maintain and cultivate positive relationships between the hospital and the community to uphold the organization’s professional image.

Key Success Factors

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in setting up and facilitating online and in-person classes and support groups.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach complex skills effectively using practical examples or props.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 2 years of professional experience.
  • Schedule: PRN (As needed); availability required for weekends and mid-to-late evening weekday shifts (8–20 hours per pay period).
  • Preferences: Prior experience in prenatal, postpartum, or L&D settings; ability to float between facilities.
  • Preferred Certifications: Childbirth education (CCCE/LCCE), Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Certification in Education, BLS, or RN licensure.
