Babcock is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Deputy Chief Pilot to join our dynamic Aviation team. This critical role, reporting directly to the Director of Flight Operations, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient execution of flight operations and training across a diverse range of customer contracts, including HEMS, Para-public, MRO, and emerging business areas.

Responsibilities:

The Deputy Chief Pilot plays a vital role in upholding the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the Director of Flight Operations to ensure the meticulous adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures by flight and technical crew members during all operations and training exercises.
• Providing inspirational leadership and fostering a culture of teamwork and professionalism within the Operations Department. This includes actively participating in the recruitment and development of highly skilled aviation professionals.
• Partnering with the Commercial and Business Development teams to align operational capabilities with strategic growth objectives, ensuring the successful delivery of contractual obligations and the expansion of services.
• Demonstrating a commitment to professional development by pursuing company-sponsored TRI/E training (if not already qualified) to provide essential instructional and examiner support to both the AOC and ATO.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of the aviation industry and an unwavering commitment to safety:

• In-depth knowledge and practical application of current EASA and UK aviation regulations, essential for effectively managing a large-scale and multifaceted operation.
• Proven experience and expertise in pilot management within a diverse and geographically dispersed operational environment.
• Possession of a current and valid UK CPL/ATPL (Helicopters) license, including an instrument rating on an appropriate type. Preference will be given to candidates with experience on aircraft types similar to those operated by Babcock, such as the H135/H145/AW169, and with sufficient flying hours to meet EASA and UK CAA requirements for HEMS and Police operations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in aviation safety, accident prevention, risk analysis, and management.
