The role
As a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service Captain, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. An exciting opportunity to join Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO), a leading provider of mission critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police, and offshore sectors.

Day to day, you’ll operate the EC135 aircraft out of Perth Airport in support of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance through varied and challenging flying across a range of disciplines including Air Ambulance, HEMS, and NVIS operations, if required, as well as:

  • Maintaining the highest standards of professional expertise and safety throughout the conduct of this challenging role.

This role is full time and based onsite at Perth Airport.

Essential experience of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service Captain:

Either:

  • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine
  • helicopters; or
  • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command
  • under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
  • 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the
  • intended operation.
  • 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.

Qualifications for the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service Captain:

  • Be qualified and instrument rated on the EC135.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
