Post Initial Employment Training Instructor – Aviation

Job Overview:

BAE Systems Australia is seeking a dedicated and experienced Post Initial Employment Training (PIET) Instructor to join its Aerospace division. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Aviation Technical Training (ATT) project, located in Wagga Wagga, NSW. The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and delivering technical training in Aviation Post Initial Employment Training (PIET). They will also design, develop, and update PIET training solutions and documentation, as well as review and assess Aviation Defence policies and procedures, and technical regulatory frameworks. This position involves providing specialist skills and advice to support aviation technical training, supervising Australian Defence Force personnel in a simulated working environment, and mentoring them on best practices. The role will report to the Training Design Manager.

The location of the role in Wagga Wagga offers a vibrant lifestyle with affordable housing. Relocation assistance will be provided to suitable candidates requiring it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and deliver technical training in Aviation Post Initial Employment Training (PIET).
  • Design, develop, and update PIET training solutions and training documentation.
  • Review and assess Aviation Defence policies, procedures, and technical regulatory frameworks.
  • Provide specialized skills and advice to support aviation technical training.
  • Supervise Australian Defence Force personnel within a simulated working environment.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, the customer, government, and industry partners.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records of training documentation.
  • Guide and mentor Defence students in best practices within the aviation environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive technical experience in the aviation industry as a ground maintenance engineer, C-E (Communications/Electronics) Technician, or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician.
  • A Certificate IV in Aeroskills or a higher qualification.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Defence policies, maintenance publications, and technical regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • While not essential, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) or prior experience as a training instructor is highly desirable.

A Defence security clearance is required for this position; therefore, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearances.
