BAE Systems Australia is seeking a dedicated and experienced Post Initial Employment Training (PIET) Instructor – Aviation to join their Aerospace business on the Aviation Technical Training (ATT) project. This permanent, full-time position is based in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, a city offering an affordable lifestyle and thriving community within easy reach of Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne. Relocation assistance will be provided to eligible candidates.
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and delivering technical training within the Aviation Post Initial Employment Training framework for the Australian Defence Force. This includes designing, developing, and updating training solutions and documentation, as well as reviewing and assessing relevant defence policies, procedures, and technical regulatory frameworks. The role also requires providing specialist skills and advice, supervising personnel in a simulated working environment, and mentoring Defence students in best practice. The Instructor will be expected to maintain accurate records, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to the supportive team environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong aviation industry technical background, either as a ground maintenance engineer, C-E (Communications/Electronics) Technician, or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician. They will hold a Certificate 4 in Aeroskills or a higher qualification and have a working knowledge of Defence policies, maintenance publications, and technical regulatory frameworks. Good communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills are essential. While not mandatory, a Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) or prior training instructor experience is highly advantageous.
