Role Overview
The Aircraft Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness of aircraft for the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) pilot training programmes. This position involves performing scheduled inspections, comprehensive maintenance, and unscheduled rectification of Aircraft Equipment and associated components, including Bay support for PC9 Flight Line and Intermediate Maintenance operations. The Technician is expected to achieve and maintain Production Inspections signatory capability for authorised specific trade certifications and obtain cross-utilisation training (CUT) qualifications to support specialty and aircraft maintenance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operationally capable aircraft by executing various maintenance tasks, including Flight Line Servicing, scheduled servicing, fault troubleshooting and rectification, modifications, and inspections/evaluations of aircraft systems and components within the Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) specialty at the Intermediate/Organisational level for training aircraft.
- Offer technical specialty support in the evaluation, interpretation, and determination of requisite maintenance faults and corrective actions, assessing the performance and operational status of specialty-specific aircraft systems, components, and the effective use of support equipment.
- Conduct On-the-Job Training (OJT) and perform Production Inspections.
- Execute troubleshooting, inspections, removals, installations, and repairs, while operating PC9 Flight Line and Intermediate Maintenance equipment and associated support and test equipment.
- Acquire user expertise and proficiency with RSAF aircraft data management and tracking computer systems, specifically AUTO LOG and MIRO Gold.
- Ensure strict compliance with the RSAF Safety and Foreign Object Programme.
Recruitment Specification
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A recognised national civilian or military equivalent aircraft maintenance traineeship or apprenticeship.
- Extensive post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal, recorded workplace applied training OR extensive experience on the same aircraft type OR successful completion of a BAESSA apprenticeship programme (SNTTP/TSNTTP).
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of aircraft maintenance and engineering principles.
- Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety protocols, and proactive hazard analysis relevant to the role.
- Relevant type training (‘Q’ Course) and equipment-specific training as required.
- Computer literate with a strong understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- A quality-minded, mature individual who adopts a positive and proactive approach to aircraft maintenance and support issues.
- Possession of sound oral and written two-way communication skills, with the ability to be tactful, discreet, and confident in dealing with individuals at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce (EE/SN).
- Capability to work autonomously to resolve complex technical issues.
- Knowledge of relevant parts of the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and procedures.
- Ability to confirm full accomplishment of maintenance tasks.
- Proficiency in the use and control of required tooling and equipment.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
- Broad knowledge of the aerospace and defence industry.
- An understanding of BAESSA engineering operating procedures.
- A sound understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and supporting technical publications applicable to the work area.
- Working knowledge of Q-pulse, DMS, and an understanding of M&CA processes.
- Completion of PC9 Aircraft Systems specific training courses appropriate to specialties.
