About the Role

American Airlines is seeking a Pilot Planning Analyst to join the Pilot Planning Team within the Integrated Operations Division in Fort Worth, Texas. This role is integral to workforce planning and analysis for over 15,000 pilots, supporting operational reliability and enterprise cost improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains crew staffing models to analyze workforce requirements and provide accurate crew staffing forecasts.
• Identifies, analyzes, and recommends solutions to workforce planning issues and develops strategies to optimize staffing.
• Evaluates operational and financial implications of strategic changes, including flying schedules, labor contracts, regulations, and technology.
• Completes ad-hoc projects and analyses as assigned.
• Oversees diverse and time-sensitive improvement projects from inception to completion, covering workforce sourcing, regulatory changes, labor agreements, and transformation initiatives.
• Collaborates with cross-functional groups to create comprehensive strategies for routine processes (e.g., pilot bids, crew counts, new hire placements) and strategic projects (e.g., long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, pilot retirements, hiring, training).
• Provides support, evaluates changes, and gains buy-in from Crew Planning personnel and leadership.
• Leverages advanced analytics to deliver optimal staffing levels, managing crew business variables for an airline with 6,700 daily flights and over 35,000 pilots.
• Travels up to 5% as needed for business purposes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience/training.
• 3 years of related experience.
• Experience working with and presenting to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of probability, statistics, and forecasting techniques.
• Basic understanding of airline operations, union agreements (crew, airports), and corporate planning processes.
