Key Responsibilities

The Crew Scheduler is responsible for ensuring optimal crew coverage across the American Airlines flight network. Key duties include:

  • Monitoring real-time flight progress utilizing specialized operational systems such as Crew Watch, LOFDS, and Screen Printer.
  • Operating critical reporting and messaging tools, including Control Panel, CorpConneX, and the Fatigue Event Management system.
  • Maintaining comprehensive system-wide crew coverage for all flights through close coordination with Integrated Operations Center (IOC) personnel, including Pilot and Flight Attendant Scheduling teams.
  • Proactively modifying existing crew sequences and creating new ones to adapt to schedule disruptions caused by misconnections, contractual illegalities, flight cancellations, and irregular operations.
  • Facilitating clear and effective communication with crew members via the Voxai phone system.
  • Providing operational support and assistance to fellow Crew Scheduling team members when necessary.
  • Contributing to the training and onboarding of new hires as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in crew scheduling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of airline operations.
  • Proficiency with Native Sabre/DECS systems.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Exceptional analytical and sound judgment abilities for informed decision-making based on gathered information.
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to constant operational changes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and union groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear operational turnovers.
  • Aptitude for learning and applying new computer applications proficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently, often under pressure and with tight deadlines, with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to perform duties manually in the event of computer outages.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for clear interaction with crew members via telephone and radio, ensuring understanding of assignments, contractual, and federal limits.
  • Ability to memorize complex computer entry codes and city codes.
  • Proficiency in performing complex calculations for crew member duty days and rest periods, ensuring compliance with labor agreements and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the 24-hour clock and worldwide time zones for daily crew communication.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend Pilot and Flight Attendant labor agreements.
  • Thorough understanding and comprehension of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) 14 CFR Part 121 and 14 CFR Part 117.
  • Commitment to regular and timely attendance, including the flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability to work overtime as required, sometimes with minimal advanced notice.
