Job Overview: Helicopter Pilot (Instructor)

Amentum is seeking a qualified Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) to join our aviation team at Fort Rucker, Alabama. In this role, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive flight instruction in the UH-72. Please note that prior military aviation experience or specific UH-72 qualification is not required.

Role Responsibilities

As a Helicopter Pilot Instructor, you will teach, coach, and mentor student pilots, preparing them for their careers as military aviators. The safety of our students and the integrity of our training culture remain the highest priorities in all flight operations.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

  • Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Total flight time: 1,500 hours (includes pilot-in-command or second-in-command time per FAR 61.51, or PIC/PI time per AR 95-1).
  • 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Documented experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • 75 hours of night flying experience.
  • 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Must hold a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to the commencement of training.
  • Basic Warfighter Skills applicants: Must be certified Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 200 hours of NVG time.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of authorization.

Important Information

Applicants are subject to government approval and the terms of a 12-month employee agreement.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position is $55.85. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable agreements.
