Helicopter Pilot (Instructor)

Amentum is currently accepting applications for the position of Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Selected candidates will provide instruction in the UH-72. Military aviation experience or prior UH-72 qualification is not required.

Role Responsibilities

Instructors are responsible for teaching, coaching, and mentoring student pilots through intensive training programs. Safety is the foundation of our Rotary Wing Flight Training culture, supported by an unprecedented record of over 2.5 million hours of flight instruction across 40,000 square miles of the National Airspace System.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

  • Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course.
  • Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours (PIC or SIC per FAR 61.51, or PIC/PI per AR 95-1).
  • Minimum of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Documented experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Minimum of 75 hours of night flying.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Must hold a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to training.
  • Basic Warfighter Skills applicants must be Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with at least 200 hours of NVG time.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of authorization.

Employment Requirements

Successful applicants are subject to government approval and the terms of a 12-month employee agreement.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position is $55.85. This rate is a good-faith estimate; final compensation may vary based on experience, education, skills, market data, and applicable agreements.
