Instructor Pilot - Rotary Wing Flight Training

Position Overview

The organization is currently accepting applications for the highly regarded position of Instructor Pilot. Successful candidates will provide foundational flight instruction on the UH-72 Lakota helicopter. Military aviation experience or prior UH-72 qualification is not a prerequisite.

Key Responsibilities of the Instructor Pilot

Instructor Pilots are responsible for teaching, coaching, and mentoring student pilots through intensive rotary wing flight training programs. These programs are meticulously designed to prepare students for their critical future roles as military aviators. Safety remains paramount and is integrated into every aspect of the organization's operational culture, mitigating the inherent risks of flight training.

The organization proudly maintains an unprecedented safety record, having accumulated over 2.5 million hours of flight instruction. Instructor Pilots conduct comprehensive flight instruction across an extensive operational area exceeding 40,000 square miles within the National Airspace System.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

• Possession of an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, OR graduation from any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
• Total Flight Time: 1500 hours. Flight time as pilot-in-command or second-in-command (per FAR 61.51); or as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Pilot (PI) (per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category is creditable for this requirement.
• Certification of 100 hours combined hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or actual weather pilot time.
• Documented experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
• Night Flying: 75 hours.
• Instructor Time: 500 hours.
• For applicants with Basic Warfighter Skills: Must be certified Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 200 hours of NVG time.
• A current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate is required prior to commencing training.
• Body weight must not exceed 250 pounds while in flight duty uniform.
• Ability to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States, with verifiable proof of authorization.
