The Opportunity

Amentum is actively seeking applications for a highly skilled and dedicated Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) to join its team at the esteemed Fort Rucker, Alabama location. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive flight instruction primarily in the UH-72 helicopter platform. It is important to note that prior military aviation experience or specific UH-72 qualification is not a prerequisite for this position, making it an accessible opportunity for qualified civilian instructors.

Key Responsibilities

The Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) will be instrumental in teaching, coaching, and mentoring student pilots through intensive training programs meticulously designed to prepare them for their future roles as military aviators. While acknowledging the inherent risks associated with flight training, safety remains the paramount principle guiding every aspect of Amentum's Rotary Wing Flight Training culture. Instructors contribute directly to fostering a secure and effective learning environment.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

Prospective candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:

• Certifications: Possession of an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate AND an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates; OR be a graduate of any Department of Defense (DOD) rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
• Total Flight Time: A minimum of 1,500 hours. Flight time credited as pilot-in-command or second-in-command (per FAR 61.51), or as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Pilot (PI) (per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category is acceptable.
• Instrument Time: Certification of a combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
• Instrument Instruction Experience: Demonstrated experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
• Night Flying Time: A minimum of 75 hours.
• Instructor Time: A minimum of 500 hours.
• Medical Certificate: Possession of a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate is required prior to commencing training.
• For Basic Warfighter Skills Applicants Only: Must be certified Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with a minimum of 200 hours of NVG time.
• Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and be able to provide verifiable proof of such authorization.
