Position Overview

Amentum is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) at Fort Novosel, Alabama. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive flight instruction for the UH-72 helicopter. Notably, prior military aviation experience or specific UH-72 qualification is not a prerequisite for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Helicopter Pilot Instructors at Amentum are responsible for teaching, coaching, and mentoring student pilots. This role involves delivering intensive training programs meticulously designed to prepare students for their future careers as military aviators. Safety is the foremost priority in every facet of Amentum's rotary wing flight training culture, evidenced by an unparalleled safety record exceeding 2.5 million hours of flight instruction. Instructors conduct comprehensive flight training within a vast operational area spanning over 40,000 square miles of the National Airspace System.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA Flight Instructor Certificate, both with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings. Alternatively, graduates of any DoD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft are eligible.
  • Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time. Flight time as pilot-in-command or second-in-command (per FAR 61.51), or as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Pilot (PI) (per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category is creditable.
  • A minimum of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Minimum 75 hours of night flying experience.
  • Minimum 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Possession of a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate is required prior to commencing training.
  • For Basic Warfighter Skills applicants, certification as Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with a minimum of 200 hours of NVG time is mandatory.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide verifiable proof of such authorization.
