Instructor Pilot

Amentum is currently accepting applications for the position of Instructor Pilot. This role involves providing instruction in the UH-72 helicopter as part of a large-scale, mission-critical training program for Army helicopter pilots at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Novosel, Alabama.

This program represents the world's largest rotary-wing flight school, where aviation experts train approximately 1,000 Army helicopter pilots annually. Since 1989, instructors have successfully trained over 25,000 student pilots, many entering with little to no prior flying experience. Instructors guide undergraduate students through comprehensive training encompassing aviation theory, simulator instruction, and actual flight training, preparing them for complex and challenging missions. Safety is paramount throughout the curriculum, which boasts an unprecedented safety record with over 2.3 million hours of flight instruction.

The training takes place at an Army installation with a multinational student population and is managed through a partnership between the Army and Amentum. While military aviation experience or prior UH-72 qualification is not required for this position, selected applicants will undergo training and a government acceptance checkride specific to the aircraft.

Applicants for employment are subject to U.S. Government approval and the terms of a 12-month Employment Training Agreement. Selected candidates will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
