Instructor Pilot

Amentum is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Instructor Pilot at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Novosel, Alabama. This role involves providing comprehensive flight instruction to undergraduate student pilots, preparing them for the demands of military aviation. Amentum instructors lead students through aviation theory, simulator training, and actual flight exercises. Safety is paramount, and the program maintains an exceptional safety record. As an Instructor Pilot, the individual will contribute to training the next generation of Army helicopter pilots, utilizing the UH-72 aircraft. Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction in the UH-72.
• Lead undergraduate student pilots through thorough training, including aviation theory, simulator instruction, and actual flight training.
• Maintain the highest safety standards in all aspects of flight instruction.

Requirements:

• Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
• Minimum of 1500 hours of total flight time as pilot-in-command or second in command (per FAR 61.51); as Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (Per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
• Must certify having a combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
• Must have instructed students in instrument flight training.
• Minimum of 75 hours of night flying experience.
• Minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
• Must have a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to beginning MOI training.
• Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
• Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and be able to provide proof of such authorization.

Applicants for employment are subject to Government approval and the terms of a 12-month Employment Training Agreement. Applicants selected for hire will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check and complete training and a government acceptance checkride.
