Helicopter Pilot (Instructor)

Amentum is seeking qualified applicants for a Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) position at Fort Novosel, Alabama. This role involves training future Army helicopter pilots at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, a premier rotary wing flight school responsible for graduating approximately 1,000 pilots annually. Amentum instructors guide undergraduate student pilots through comprehensive training, encompassing aviation theory, simulator instruction, and actual flight time, preparing them for the demands of military aviation. Safety is paramount, and the program maintains an exceptional safety record. The training program operates in shifts across a large training area, fostering leadership skills crucial for future combat pilots. This position is part of a collaborative partnership between the Army and Amentum, reflecting Amentum's commitment to supporting the armed forces.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in the UH-72 helicopter.

Requirements:

  • Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Must have a minimum of 1500 hours of total flight time as pilot-in-command or second in command (per FAR 61.51), or as Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (Per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
  • Must certify having a combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Must have experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Must have a minimum of 75 hours of night flying experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Must have a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to beginning MOI training.
  • Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Important Considerations:

  • Employment is subject to Government approval and a 12-month Employee Training Agreement.
  • Applicants selected for hire will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
  • Applicants selected for hire must complete training and a government acceptance checkride. Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required.
