Instructor Pilot

Amentum is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Instructor Pilot. This position involves providing instruction in the UH-72 helicopter at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Rucker, Alabama. Amentum instructors train Army helicopter pilots, contributing to the graduation of approximately 1,000 students annually. The role encompasses aviation theory, simulator instruction, and actual flight training, preparing undergraduate student pilots for demanding operational environments. Safety is paramount, and the program maintains a strong safety record.

Responsibilities:

The Instructor Pilot will lead students through a comprehensive training program, developing their leadership skills and preparing them for future combat roles. The training environment involves multinational students and is managed in partnership with the Army.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
• 1500 hours total flight time as pilot-in-command or second in command (per FAR 61.51) or as Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (Per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
• 100 hours of combined hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
• Experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
• 75 hours of night flying time.
• 500 hours of instructor time.
• A current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.
• Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
• Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required. Selected applicants are subject to Government approval, a 12-month Employee Training Agreement, a U.S. Government background security check, and a government acceptance checkride.
