Amentum is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Helicopter Pilot Instructor at Fort Novosel, Alabama. This role involves instructing undergraduate student pilots in the UH-72, preparing them for the demanding environment of military aviation. Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not a prerequisite for application. Selected applicants will be subject to government approval, a 12-month Employee Training Agreement, and must pass a U.S. Government background security check, as well as successfully complete training and a government acceptance checkride.

The Helicopter Pilot Instructor will provide comprehensive instruction, encompassing aviation theory, simulator training, and practical flight exercises, all within a rigorous training program that emphasizes safety and leadership development. The training environment operates in shifts, from early morning to late night, across a vast 40,000 square mile training area. The program, a partnership between the U.S. Army and Amentum, trains approximately 1,000 graduates annually, including entry-level soldiers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours total flight time as pilot-in-command or second-in-command, as defined by FAR 61.51 or as Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (Per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
  • Must certify a combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Minimum of 75 hours of night flying experience.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Must possess a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to commencing MOI training.
  • Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
  • Must successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
