Helicopter Pilot Instructor

Amentum is seeking highly qualified individuals to join its team as Helicopter Pilot Instructors at Fort Novosel, Alabama. This position plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of Army aviators.

Position Overview

The selected candidate will provide instruction in the UH-72 helicopter to undergraduate student pilots at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence. This comprehensive training program encompasses aviation theory, simulator instruction, and practical flight training, preparing students for the rigors of combat aviation. Amentum instructors guide students through months of thorough training, fostering not only piloting skills but also essential leadership qualities. The training program operates in a dynamic environment, spanning a vast training area and utilizing a variety of operational times, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded and rigorous education.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct classroom instruction, simulator training, and in-flight training for student pilots in the UH-72.
  • Adhere to stringent safety protocols, upholding the program's impressive safety record.
  • Contribute to the development of student pilots' leadership abilities, preparing them for future operational roles.
  • Participate in a collaborative training environment in partnership with the US Army.
  • Provide a professional learning environment for an international student population.

Requirements:

  • Possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates; or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Accumulated a minimum of 1500 total flight hours, including flight time as pilot-in-command or second-in-command (per FAR 61.51), or Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (per AR 95-1).
  • Have a combined total of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Accumulated a minimum of 75 hours of night flying time.
  • Accumulated a minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Possess a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to commencing MOI training.
  • Must not exceed 250 pounds while in flight duty uniform.
  • Successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Must comply with the terms of a 12-month Employee Training Agreement.

Note: Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not a prerequisite for this position.
