Job Title: Instructor Pilot

Amentum is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Instructor Pilot. This role is integral to the training of future Army helicopter pilots at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Rucker, Alabama. The selected individual will contribute to a program that has successfully trained over 25,000 student pilots since 1989, operating within the largest rotary-wing flight school globally, serving not just the US Army, but also the Air Force, NATO, and other allied nations.

Responsibilities:

The Instructor Pilot will provide instruction in the UH-72 helicopter. This will encompass a range of activities from aviation theory and simulator training to real-world flight instruction. The instructor will lead undergraduate student pilots through a comprehensive training program designed to prepare them for demanding operational environments. The selected individual will contribute to the program's impressive safety record, achieved over 2.3 million hours of flight instruction. Training is conducted in shifts, spanning from early morning to late evening, across a vast 40,000 square mile training area. Emphasis will be placed on safety, development of leadership skills, and instilling a robust understanding of the rigors of military aviation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Rotorcraft Category, Helicopter Class, and Instrument Helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of a Department of Defense rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours of total flight time, including pilot-in-command or second-in-command time (per FAR 61.51), or Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) time (per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
  • Must have a verified combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Minimum of 75 hours of night flying experience.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of instructor flight time.
  • Must possess a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to commencement of the MOI training.
  • Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Additional Information:

Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required. Employment is contingent upon Government approval and the successful completion of a 12-month Employee Training Agreement. Selected applicants will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check, as well as complete training and a government acceptance checkride.
