Instructor Pilot - Amentum
Amentum is currently seeking highly qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the role of Instructor Pilot at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Novosel, Alabama. This pivotal role involves training the next generation of Army helicopter pilots, ensuring they are prepared for the demanding conditions of military aviation.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive instruction to undergraduate student pilots in the UH-72 helicopter. This includes instruction in aviation theory, simulator training, and practical flight operations. Amentum instructors play a vital role in transforming entry-level soldiers, with or without prior flight experience, into skilled helicopter pilots. The program at Fort Novosel, the world's largest rotary wing flight school, boasts a distinguished history of training over 25,000 student pilots since 1989 and maintaining an exceptional safety record. This role requires the candidate to effectively guide students through all phases of their rigorous training, emphasizing safety and adherence to the highest standards. The training environment is conducted at an active Army installation alongside a diverse multinational student body. This position is managed through a collaborative partnership between the U.S. Army and Amentum, highlighting the trust and reliance the Department of Defense places in Amentum's expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in the UH-72 helicopter.
- Deliver comprehensive training in aviation theory, simulator operations, and practical flight procedures.
- Mentor and guide undergraduate student pilots through all phases of their training.
- Ensure adherence to the highest safety standards at all times.
- Contribute to a positive and professional learning environment.
- Adhere to all applicable government and military regulations and procedures.
Requirements:
- Must possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates; OR be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
- Must have a minimum of 1500 hours of total flight time, crediting time as Pilot-in-Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) in aircraft of any weight or category.
- Must certify a combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
- Must have experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
- Must possess a minimum of 75 hours of night flying experience.
- Must have a minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
- Must possess a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to beginning MOI training.
- Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
- Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Important Considerations:
- Applicants must be willing to undergo a 12-month Employment Training Agreement.
- Employment is subject to Government approval.
- Selected candidates must pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
- Selected candidates must complete training and a government acceptance checkride.
- Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not a requirement for application.
