About the Role

Amentum seeks a skilled Plane Captain to perform comprehensive aircraft handling, servicing, and inspections, including daily and turn-around checks. Responsibilities

  • Execute aircraft handling, servicing, and turn-around inspections in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and fuel ground support equipment.
  • Initiate and complete all required maintenance forms.
  • Perform aircraft fuel sampling and servicing as per established procedures.
  • Launch and recover aircraft, serving as the taxi director during these operations.
  • Perform aircraft towing and act as a brake rider when necessary.
  • Secure aircraft by tying down and covering according to established procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to team members.
  • Utilize two-way communication equipment effectively.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
  • Comply with all general and industrial safety rules and regulations pertinent to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
  • Maintain the safety, security, and preservation of government and company-owned equipment.
  • Deliver courteous and professional customer service.
  • Operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the work center.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any company/government required qualifications, certifications, licensing, or security clearance.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in the English language, including the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and aircraft operational safety requirements.
  • Willingness to work any assigned shift and schedule.
  • Ability to travel for cross-country rescues and detachments of indeterminate duration.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role involves significant physical activity including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling, and working in potentially tiring or uncomfortable positions. Requires excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. The ability to lift objects up to 70 pounds and stand or walk on level and inclined surfaces for extended periods is necessary. Vision must include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Adequate hearing is also required. Respirator use may be necessary. The work environment can vary from minimal discomfort to exposure to inclement weather, high noise levels, electrical hazards, and fumes or airborne particles.
