Amentum is seeking a skilled Plane Captain to join their team. The Plane Captain will be responsible for aircraft handling, servicing, and conducting various inspections, including daily and turn-around checks. This role will also involve providing technical assistance and guidance to other employees. The position is located at Amentum's facility.
The Plane Captain plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of aircraft on the flight line. Key responsibilities include performing duties typically associated with Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications, conducting required daily and turn-around inspections in accordance with established procedures, and accurately completing maintenance forms. The role also encompasses aircraft fueling and servicing, launching and recovering aircraft, acting as a taxi director during launch and recovery operations, and performing aircraft towing and brake-riding duties as needed. Additional duties involve securing aircraft with tie-downs and covers, providing technical assistance and instruction, and utilizing two-way communication equipment. The Plane Captain must also ensure strict compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs, as well as all applicable safety rules and regulations. Maintaining the cleanliness of the work center and providing professional customer service are also essential components of this position.
This role involves significant physical activity, including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling, and working in potentially uncomfortable positions for extended periods. The position requires good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Employees may be required to lift objects up to 70 pounds and stand on level or inclined surfaces for extended durations. Close vision (including color vision), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are necessary. The ability to hear at a normal range is also required. Use of a respirator may be necessary. The work environment can vary from comfortable to conditions involving inclement weather, including extreme temperatures, wind, and rain. High noise hazards, electrical shock hazards, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles may also be present.
