Job Overview: Plane Captain

Amentum is seeking a professional Plane Captain to join our aviation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for aircraft handling, servicing, and conducting essential daily and turn-around inspections. This role provides critical technical assistance, guidance, and ground support equipment operations to ensure the safety and security of aircraft and company assets.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, turn-around, and pre-operational inspections according to established procedures.
  • Launch and recover aircraft, serving as an aircraft taxi director.
  • Conduct aircraft fuel sampling, servicing, and towing, including serving as a brake rider.
  • Properly secure, tie down, and cover aircraft.
  • Initiate and complete all required maintenance documentation.
  • Operate two-way communication equipment and portable firefighting equipment.
  • Maintain strict compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
  • Ensure adherence to all industrial safety regulations and maintain work center cleanliness.
  • Provide technical guidance and professional customer service while performing assigned duties.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
  • Must be certified as a Plane Captain through a formal training program and maintain semi-annual re-qualification.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, marshaling, common hand tools, and safety manuals.
  • Proficiency in English with the ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and lift/push/pull up to 70 pounds.
  • Must possess close vision (including color vision), depth perception, and normal hearing.
  • Prior military personnel must provide a member 4 DD214 showing Honorable discharge.
  • Must be available for all assigned shifts and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH-60 platforms.
  • Certifications in Hazardous Waste Communications, FOD/TCP Awareness, ISO 9001-2000, and Operational Risk Management (ORM).
  • Qualified experience operating support equipment, including tow tractors, nitrogen carts, and engine start units.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $50.66 (Set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
