Job Title: F/A-18 Plane Captain

Amentum is seeking qualified F/A-18 Plane Captains to support critical U.S. Navy aircraft maintenance operations. This role involves comprehensive aircraft servicing, flight line operations, and adherence to government-approved certification standards. Successful candidates will support mission requirements, including rotating shifts and travel for detachments both ashore and afloat on aircraft carriers.
Key Responsibilities

Perform aircraft flight line servicing, including refueling and oil replenishment.

Direct incoming and outgoing aircraft using hand or light signals and secure aircraft with chocks and tie-downs.

Conduct pre-flight and post-flight maintenance inspections and accurately document all servicing performed.

Operate ground support equipment, such as electrical power supplies, tow tractors, and engine starting units.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, including tire pressure checks and aircraft cleaning (interior/exterior).

Maintain hangar deck cleanliness, including the management of fluid spills.

Adhere to a schedule of up to 7 days and 40 hours per week, with additional overtime required based on operational tempo.
Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.

Ability to perform shift work and participate in detachments both ashore and afloat.

Minimum of two (2) years of recent organizational-level aircraft maintenance experience is desired.

Valid driver’s license (Virginia or North Carolina).

Proficiency in the use of special tools and equipment required for maintenance tasks.

Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, and maintenance manuals.

Strong self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must meet physical requirements for the role, including standing, climbing, bending, and stooping.

U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain facility credentials and security authorization.

Must successfully pass a 7-year background check and obtain a Public Trust security clearance; must maintain eligibility for a Common Access Card (CAC).
Preferred Qualifications

Current or past F/A-18 Plane Captain, Brake Rider, or Move Director certification.

Completion of military aviation maintenance training or an FAA-issued A&P license.

Demonstrated prior experience with U.S. Navy F/A-18 aircraft.

$35.36 (Good-faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and applicable labor agreements).
