Job Overview: Plane Captain
The Plane Captain is responsible for the professional handling, servicing, and inspection of aircraft. This role ensures operational readiness through daily and turnaround inspections, pre-operational checks, and technical guidance. The position requires a commitment to safety, compliance with maintenance procedures, and the preservation of government and company equipment.
Essential Responsibilities

Perform Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper functions as required.

Execute daily and turnaround inspections per established technical procedures.

Manage aircraft fuel sampling, servicing, launching, and recovery operations.

Serve as an aircraft taxi director and act as a brake rider during towing operations.

Ensure correct aircraft tie-down and covering protocols.

Utilize two-way communication equipment and provide technical instruction.

Maintain strict compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Tool Control, and Egress Familiarization programs.

Uphold industrial safety standards and security of all assigned equipment.

Operate portable firefighting equipment and maintain work center cleanliness.

Provide professional customer service and complete all relevant maintenance documentation.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary government/company certifications, licenses, and a Secret US Government security clearance (US Citizenship required).

Prior military personnel must provide a member 4 DD214 with an Honorable discharge.

Proficiency in the English language with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Thorough knowledge of aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, and safety manuals.

Physical ability to climb, reach, lift/push/pull up to 70 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.

Must possess close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and normal hearing range.

Must successfully complete and maintain semi-annual plane captain certification.

Requirement to work all assigned shifts and schedules and be qualified on all assigned aircraft types (T/M/S).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH-60 platforms.

Certified in Hazardous Waste Communications, FOD/TCP Awareness, ISO 9001-2000, and Operational Risk Management.

Licensed to operate support equipment (e.g., tow tractors, nitrogen carts, engine wash/start units).
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Rate:
$50.66 (Set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
