Plane Captain

Amentum seeks a skilled and dedicated Plane Captain to perform aircraft handling, servicing, and inspections. The successful candidate will be responsible for pre-operational inspections, fueling ground support equipment, and providing technical assistance and guidance. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols and maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties of Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.
  • Conduct daily and turn around inspections according to applicable procedures.
  • Initiate and complete maintenance forms accurately.
  • Execute aircraft fuel sampling and servicing as per established procedures.
  • Launch and recover aircraft, serving as aircraft taxi director during these operations.
  • Tow aircraft and act as aircraft brake rider when necessary.
  • Secure aircraft by tying down and covering, following established procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • Operate two-way communication equipment effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
  • Adhere to all general and industrial safety rules and regulations pertinent to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
  • Maintain the safety, security, and preservation of government and company-owned equipment.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service.
  • Operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the work center.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary government/company licenses, qualifications, certifications, and clearance requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating the English language, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and aircraft operational safety requirements.
  • Physical ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, carry, balance, reach above shoulder level, and push or pull weight up to 70 pounds.
  • Close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to hear at the normal range.
  • Must complete a training program and be certified as a plane captain in writing; required to re-qualify semi-annually.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required for clearance.
  • Prior military personnel must present a member 4 DD214 with an Honorable character of service discharge.
  • Must be qualified on all assigned T/M/S.
  • Availability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, or F-16 aircraft is strongly preferred.
  • Licensing and certification in Hazardous Waste Communications, FOD and TCP Awareness, ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness, and Operational Risk Management (ORM) are beneficial.
  • Licensure on support equipment, including tow tractors, nitrogen servicing carts, engine wash carts, and engine start units.
  • Willingness to handle hazardous materials in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Ability to utilize eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • May be required to use a respirator.

Compensation and Benefits

HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $50.66 (Hourly rate set by CBA).
