Plane Captain
A highly skilled and dedicated Plane Captain is sought to join our dynamic aviation operations team. This critical role is responsible for performing comprehensive aircraft handling, servicing, and inspection duties, ensuring the peak operational readiness and safety of various aircraft. The Plane Captain provides essential technical assistance and guidance, overseeing pre-operational inspections and the fueling of ground support equipment, contributing significantly to mission success.
Essential Responsibilities
- Executes daily and turnaround inspections on aircraft in strict adherence to applicable procedures.
- Initiates, completes, and maintains accurate maintenance forms and records.
- Conducts aircraft fuel sampling and servicing in accordance with established protocols.
- Manages aircraft launch and recovery operations, including serving as aircraft taxi director.
- Performs aircraft towing and acts as an aircraft brake rider when required.
- Secures and covers aircraft following established procedures.
- Provides expert technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to team members as needed.
- Utilizes two-way communication equipment for effective operational coordination.
- Ensures rigorous compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Upholds all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations pertinent to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
- Safeguards the security and preservation of government and company-owned equipment.
- Delivers professional and courteous customer service.
- Operates portable firefighting equipment effectively.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the work center.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary government/company licenses, qualifications, certifications, and security clearances for the position, including a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship is a prerequisite).
- Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in the English language, with the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and normal operational safety requirements specific to aircraft.
- Physical capability to perform tasks involving climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, carrying, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level, as well as pushing or pulling weights up to 70 pounds.
- Requires close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear at a normal range.
- Successful completion of a certified Plane Captain training program, with a requirement to re-qualify semi-annually.
- Must be qualified on all assigned Type/Model/Series (T/M/S) aircraft.
- Flexibility to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH60 aircraft is strongly preferred.
- Possession of the following licensing and certification requirements:
- Hazardous Waste Communications Training
- FOD and TCP Awareness Training
- ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness
- Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training
- Licensure on support equipment such as tow tractor, nitrogen servicing cart, engine wash cart, and engine start unit.
- Familiarity with handling hazardous materials in the performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrated excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to utilize a respirator when required.
Compensation & Benefits
