Amentum is seeking a highly motivated F/A-18 Plane Captain to support U.S. Navy aircraft maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, VA. This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts and travel for detachments.
The F/A-18 Plane Captain will become Plane Captain certified in accordance with a government-approved certification process. This individual services aircraft, performing a combination of tasks including directing incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal or flight line parking areas, assisting pilots with maneuvering on the ground using hand or light signals, and securing aircraft in parking position with chocks and tie downs.
Additional responsibilities include aircraft flight line servicing, operating service vehicles to replenish fuel and oil, performing pre-flight through post-flight maintenance inspections, entering descriptions of servicing performed in maintenance records, checking for fuel contamination, and operating ground support equipment. The Plane Captain also examines tires, assists in towing aircraft, cleans the exterior and interior of aircraft, and performs hangar deck housekeeping.
This position may require working up to 7 days and 40 hours per week, with overtime depending on operational tempo.
Work is primarily performed outdoors under various weather conditions with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes. The position requires a great deal of standing, climbing, bending, and stooping.
