Plane Captain
Amentum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Plane Captain to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive handling, servicing, and inspection of aircraft, ensuring their readiness for operation. This role demands a proactive approach to safety and a commitment to providing exceptional support to the aviation team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute daily and turnaround inspections adhering to established procedures.
- Complete all necessary maintenance documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Perform aircraft fuel sampling and servicing, strictly following established protocols.
- Safely launch and recover aircraft, acting as aircraft taxi director during these operations.
- Tow aircraft and serve as aircraft brake rider as required.
- Secure aircraft using established procedures, including tying down and covering.
- Provide technical guidance and instruction to junior team members.
- Utilize two-way communication equipment effectively.
- Maintain strict adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Uphold all general and industrial safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure the safety, security, and preservation of all company and government-owned equipment.
- Deliver courteous and professional customer service.
- Operate portable firefighting equipment proficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work center.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required company/government qualifications, certifications, licenses, or security clearances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Thorough working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and normal operational safety requirements.
- Availability to work any assigned shift and schedule.
- Willingness to travel for cross-country rescues and detachments of varying durations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This role requires a wide range of physical movements, including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, and kneeling. The ability to lift up to 70 pounds is essential. Prolonged standing and walking are also required. The candidate must possess excellent close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Normal hearing is required. The use of a respirator may be necessary.
The work environment may vary, ranging from comfortable indoor settings to outdoor conditions exposed to inclement weather. Exposure to high noise levels, electrical hazards, fumes, and airborne particles is possible.
