Plane Captain
Amentum seeks a highly skilled and experienced Plane Captain to contribute to our aviation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling, servicing, and inspection of aircraft, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures. This role demands a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
- Execute daily and turnaround aircraft inspections, adhering to established procedures and meticulously completing all necessary documentation.
- Conduct aircraft fueling and sampling procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Safely launch and recover aircraft, acting as aircraft taxi director during these operations.
- Perform aircraft towing and serve as aircraft brake rider as needed.
- Securely tie down and cover aircraft using established procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and instruction to Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper personnel.
- Utilize two-way communication equipment effectively.
- Maintain rigorous adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Ensure strict compliance with all general and industrial safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain the safety, security, and preservation of all government and company-owned equipment.
- Deliver courteous and professional customer service.
- Operate portable firefighting equipment proficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work center.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of two years' experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required company/government qualifications, certifications, licenses, or security clearances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Thorough understanding of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and aircraft operational safety requirements.
- Flexibility to work any assigned shift and schedule.
- Willingness to travel for cross-country rescues and detachments of varying durations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires a full range of physical motion, including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, and kneeling. The ability to lift up to 70 pounds is necessary. Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required. The candidate must possess excellent close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Normal hearing is essential. Respiratory protection may be required.
The work environment may vary, ranging from comfortable indoor settings to outdoor conditions with exposure to inclement weather. The candidate may encounter high noise levels, electrical hazards, fumes, and airborne particles.
