Plane Captain
Amentum seeks a highly skilled and motivated Plane Captain to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling, servicing, and inspection of aircraft, ensuring the highest standards of operational readiness. This role demands a proactive approach to safety and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and turnaround inspections according to established procedures.
- Initiate and complete all necessary maintenance documentation.
- Conduct aircraft fuel sampling and servicing in compliance with regulations.
- Launch and recover aircraft, acting as taxi director as needed.
- Safely tow aircraft and operate as a brake rider when required.
- Secure and cover aircraft using established procedures.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, and training to junior personnel.
- Utilize two-way communication equipment effectively.
- Maintain strict adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Safeguard government and company-owned equipment.
- Deliver courteous and professional customer service.
- Operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of two years' experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required company/government certifications, licenses, or security clearances.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and aircraft safety requirements.
- Ability to work any assigned shift or schedule, including potential travel for cross-country rescues and detachments of indeterminate duration.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires physical stamina and dexterity, including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, and kneeling. The ability to lift up to 70 pounds is necessary. Prolonged standing and walking on level and inclined surfaces are required. Corrected vision, including color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, is essential. Normal hearing is required. Respirator use may be necessary. The work environment may vary, from comfortable indoor settings to outdoor conditions with exposure to inclement weather, high noise levels, electrical hazards, fumes, and airborne particles.
