Plane Captain
Amentum is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plane Captain to join our dynamic aviation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of aircraft handling, servicing, and inspection duties, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft fleet. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and turnaround inspections according to established procedures.
- Initiate and complete all necessary maintenance documentation.
- Conduct aircraft fuel sampling and servicing in accordance with established procedures.
- Execute aircraft launch and recovery procedures, serving as taxi director as needed.
- Perform aircraft towing and act as a brake rider when required.
- Secure aircraft using established procedures, including tying down and covering.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other team members.
- Utilize two-way communication equipment effectively.
- Maintain strict adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable general and industrial safety rules and regulations.
- Safeguard government and company-owned equipment.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work center.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required company/government qualifications, certifications, licenses, or security clearances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Comprehensive understanding of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and normal operational safety requirements.
- Ability to work any assigned shift and schedule.
- Willingness to travel in support of cross-country rescues and detachments of varying durations.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
This position demands a wide range of physical movements, including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, and kneeling. The ability to lift up to 70 pounds is required. Extended periods of standing and walking on level and inclined surfaces are necessary. The role requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Normal hearing is essential. Respiratory protection may be required. Work environments vary and may include exposure to inclement weather, high noise levels, electrical hazards, fumes, and airborne particles.
