Plane Captain Job Description

Overview

The Plane Captain is responsible for performing aircraft handling, servicing, and daily and turnaround inspections, ensuring operational readiness. This role also involves providing pre-operational inspections, fueling ground support equipment, and offering technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper personnel.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Physical Demands:

This role involves the scope of physical movements and postures typically associated with shop/hanger/flight line maintenance activities. These include bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling, and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions. The position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. The ability to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds may be required. The incumbent must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day. Close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are essential. Normal hearing range is necessary. The use of a respirator may be required.

Work Environment:

The work environment may range from a comfortable setting to one with inclement weather, exposing individuals to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. The position may require working in areas with high noise hazards. Exposure to electrical shock hazards and fumes or airborne particles may also occur.
