The Plane Captain is responsible for aircraft handling, servicing, and conducting daily and turnaround inspections as required. This role provides pre-operational inspections, fuels ground support equipment, and offers technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to employees in the Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.
This role requires physical movements and postures typically associated with shop/hanger/flight line maintenance activities, including bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling, and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions. Proficiency in eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is essential. The individual may be required to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds. The ability to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day is crucial. The candidate must possess close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Good hearing is required. The use of a respirator may be necessary.
Work conditions may range from environments with minimal physical discomfort to environments with inclement weather, subjecting individuals to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. Work may be required in areas with high noise hazards. Exposure to electrical shock hazards and fumes or airborne particles may occur.
