F/A-18 Plane Captain - NAS Oceana, VA
Amentum is seeking dedicated and experienced F/A-18 Plane Captains to provide critical support to U.S. Navy Aircraft maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, VA. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with advanced aircraft while contributing to the readiness of our nation's defense.
Responsibilities:
- Direct aircraft movement on the flight line, ensuring safe and efficient parking and maneuvering.
- Perform meticulous pre-flight and post-flight inspections, documenting all servicing actions.
- Conduct routine aircraft servicing, including refueling, oil replenishment, and tire pressure checks.
- Operate ground support equipment, including tow tractors, engine starting units, and electrical power supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including aircraft interiors and exteriors, and address fluid spills.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and technical publications to ensure optimal aircraft condition.
- Demonstrate adaptability and teamwork to excel in a dynamic operational environment.
- Possess the ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with potential for overtime and detachments.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent and relevant organizational level aircraft maintenance experience is desired.
- Valid driver's license from Virginia or North Carolina (if a resident of North Carolina).
- Proficiency in utilizing specialized tools and equipment essential for performing assigned maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and adhere to technical publications, safety regulations, and operational manuals.
- Strong self-motivation and the capacity to excel independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical aptitude to meet the demands of the role, including standing, climbing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
- Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization, requiring U.S. Citizenship.
- Successful completion of a U.S. Government background security check, including favorable fingerprints in EQIP and potentially a SF-85/86.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as an F/A-18 Plane Captain, Brake Rider, or Move Director.
- Completion of military aviation maintenance training, a relevant technical school curriculum, or possession of an FAA issued A&P license.
- Experience working with U.S. Navy aviation, particularly on F/A-18 aircraft, is highly desirable.
