F/A-18 Plane Captain
Amentum is seeking highly motivated and experienced F/A-18 Plane Captains to join our team in support of U.S. Navy Aircraft maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, VA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a crucial part in maintaining the operational readiness of our nation's fighter aircraft.
Responsibilities:
As a Plane Captain, you will be responsible for a wide range of aircraft servicing and maintenance tasks, including:
- Directing aircraft movement on the ground, ensuring safe and efficient parking and maneuvering.
- Performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections, identifying and documenting any maintenance requirements.
- Servicing aircraft with fuel, oil, and other necessary fluids.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, documenting all servicing and inspections performed.
- Operating ground support equipment, such as tow tractors, engine starting units, and electrical power supplies.
- Conducting routine inspections of aircraft tires and other critical components.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including the hangar deck and surrounding areas.
- Adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent and relevant aircraft maintenance experience is highly desired.
- Experience as an F/A-18 Plane Captain, Brake Rider, or Move Director is strongly preferred.
- Completion of military aviation maintenance training or a technical school curriculum is preferred.
- Possession of an FAA issued A&P license is advantageous.
- Prior experience working with U.S. Navy aviation, specifically on F/A-18 aircraft, is highly desirable.
- Must possess a valid Virginia or North Carolina driver's license (if a resident of North Carolina).
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety regulations, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong knowledge and experience using specialized tools and equipment required for aircraft maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be available for detachment travel.
- Must be physically fit and able to meet the demands of the job, including standing, climbing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (Public Trust) and facility credentials/authorization, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
