F/A-18 Plane Captain
Amentum is seeking dedicated and skilled F/A-18 Plane Captains to join our team in support of crucial U.S. Navy aircraft maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, VA.
About the Role:
The F/A-18 Plane Captain plays a vital role in maintaining the readiness and operational capability of the Navy's F/A-18 fleet. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of aircraft handling, servicing, and inspection procedures.
Responsibilities Include:
- Directing aircraft movement on the ground, ensuring safe and efficient parking and maneuvering.
- Performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections, meticulously documenting all servicing actions.
- Conducting routine maintenance tasks such as refueling, oil replenishment, and tire pressure checks.
- Operating ground support equipment including power supplies, tow tractors, and engine starting units.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Demonstrating adaptability by working rotating shifts and supporting detachment requirements.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of recent and relevant aircraft maintenance experience highly desired.
- Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver's License (if residing in North Carolina).
- Proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment essential for aircraft maintenance.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret technical publications, safety regulations, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the capability to excel both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to meet the demands of the position, including standing, climbing, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances and facility access authorizations (U.S. Citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an F/A-18 Plane Captain, Brake Rider, or Move Director.
- Completion of military aviation maintenance training, technical school curriculum, or possession of an FAA A&P license.
- Prior experience with U.S. Navy aviation operations, specifically on F/A-18 aircraft, is highly advantageous.
