Amentum is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join their team as F/A-18 Plane Captains at NAS Oceana, VA. This role provides critical support to U.S. Navy Aircraft maintenance operations and offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge aviation technology.
Responsibilities:
The F/A-18 Plane Captain will be responsible for a wide range of aircraft servicing and maintenance tasks, including:
- Directing aircraft movement on the flight line, ensuring safe and efficient ground operations.
- Performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections, meticulously documenting all servicing actions.
- Conducting routine maintenance tasks such as refueling, oil servicing, and tire pressure checks.
- Operating ground support equipment including power supplies, tow tractors, and engine starting units.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Working effectively both independently and as part of a team to ensure mission readiness.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of recent, demonstrable experience in aircraft maintenance is highly desirable.
- Valid driver's license from Virginia or North Carolina (if residing in North Carolina).
- Proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment essential for aircraft maintenance.
- Ability to interpret technical publications, safety regulations, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical capability to perform the demanding tasks associated with aircraft maintenance, including standing, climbing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and travel for detachments as required by operational needs.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance for Public Trust, including a comprehensive 7-year background check, and necessary facility credentials/authorization. Note: U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for obtaining facility credentials/authorization at this location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as an F/A-18 Plane Captain, Brake Rider, or Move Director.
- Completion of military aviation maintenance training, technical school curriculum, or possession of an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
- Previous experience working with U.S. Navy aviation, particularly on F/A-18 aircraft, is highly valued.
