Plane Captain - Keeping Aviation Soaring
This crucial role ensures the safe and efficient operation of aircraft through meticulous handling, servicing, and inspection procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Aircraft Care: Performs pre-flight, turn-around, and daily inspections adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. This includes fuel sampling and servicing, towing, securing, and maintaining a pristine and FOD-free work environment.
- Operational Excellence: Launches and recovers aircraft, acting as a taxi director during these critical phases. Expertly maneuvers aircraft, utilizing ground support equipment and adhering to established protocols.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of aircraft handling, servicing, and maintenance procedures. Interprets and completes maintenance documentation with precision.
- Team Leadership: Provides technical guidance, assistance, and instruction to Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Safety Champion: Ensures unwavering adherence to all safety regulations, including FOD prevention, hazardous waste management, egress familiarization, and tool control. Prioritizes the safety of personnel, aircraft, and equipment.
- Adaptability: Operates effectively in diverse and demanding environments, including inclement weather conditions and extended shifts. Demonstrates flexibility in supporting cross-country rescues and detachments as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of two years in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain required company/government qualifications, certifications, licenses, and security clearances.
- Skills:
- Proficient in English (written and verbal) for clear communication and comprehension of instructions and technical manuals.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and aircraft safety requirements.
- Physical capacity to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 70 pounds, working in confined spaces, and enduring prolonged standing and walking.
- Other: Willingness to travel for work-related purposes.
