First Officer, Boeing 737
Amentum seeks a highly skilled and experienced First Officer to join our flight operations team. The successful candidate will serve as Second in Command on Boeing 737 aircraft, assuming command responsibilities in the event of the Pilot in Command's incapacitation. Responsibilities extend beyond flight operations to encompass meticulous pre-flight preparation and post-flight analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Boeing 737 aircraft for passenger and cargo transport.
- Maintain comprehensive situational awareness, monitoring aircraft systems and adhering to stringent safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with Air Traffic Control utilizing standard aviation terminology.
- Thoroughly review and interpret relevant documentation including maintenance logs, weather reports/forecasts, NOTAMs, FARs, AIM, company FOM, FCOM, FCTM, and QRH.
- Accurately compute aircraft performance data and weight & balance.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The position is primarily based within the B737 cockpit, an environment characterized by confined space, elevated noise levels, temperature fluctuations, and low humidity. The role demands physical and mental resilience to manage potential in-flight emergencies, inclement weather, and demanding operational conditions. The First Officer must possess:
- Minimum 40 pounds of arm/shoulder strength for steering wheel manipulation.
- Minimum 100 pounds of arm/shoulder strength for yoke control.
- Minimum 130 pounds of leg strength for rudder pedal operation.
- Ability to lift, extend, and set up to 30 pounds in various positions.
- Corrected vision to 20/20 at near, mid, and far ranges, with full color recognition.
- Ability to hear, interpret, and respond to verbal communication in English, even with background noise.
- Exceptional ability to compartmentalize personal stress, maintain focus, and apply extensive knowledge under pressure. Rapid, accurate mental calculation skills are essential, along with adherence to checklists and meticulous situational awareness. The ability to remain calm and effective during high-stress situations, including potential emergencies, is paramount.
Minimum Requirements:
- US DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate (with EKG if over 39 years old).
- US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or eligibility to complete an ATP CTP in conjunction with a B737 Type course.
- 3,000 total flight hours in crew and/or general aviation aircraft, or 1,500 hours in high-performance, single-pilot, military aircraft (2:1 conversion). Only fixed-wing, in-seat pilot time is applicable. Time must adhere to FAA regulations; no military conversion is permitted.
- US DOD TS/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required).
- Valid US state-issued driver's license and current US passport or valid US birth certificate.
- Domicile in the Las Vegas, Nevada metropolitan area (no commute option).
- Compliance with all 14 CFR Part 121 requirements for pilots, including age under 65, and eligibility to fly for a minimum of 2 years from the hire date.
Preferred Capabilities:
- Active US DoD TS security clearance under continuous evaluation or with at least one year until the next investigation is due.
- US DOT/FAA ATP certificate with AMEL rating.
- US DOT/FAA B737 Type rating.
- Current residence in the Las Vegas, Nevada metropolitan area.
- Current employment with a company possessing a certificated aviation program or military service.
- Experience piloting large category or high-performance military aircraft.
- Experience with modern avionics (glass cockpit).
- Experience with electronic flight bags (EFB).
